UNBOXED: Creativity in the UK is an once-in-a-lifetime celebration of creativity taking place across England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales and online from March to October 2022. Shaped across science, technology, engineering, arts and maths, projects include a multimedia journey through 13.8bn years of history, from the Big Bang to the present day; the solar system recreated as a 10km sculpture trail; a spectacular technicolour city centre forest-garden; an exploration of the human mind involving an artwork you ‘see’ with your eyes closed; thousands of people coming together to make public artworks celebrating the UK’s landscapes; Wales transported 30 years into the future; a cutting edge AR and VR technology project immersing people in hidden histories in 15 towns and cities; a decommissioned offshore North Sea platform transformed into a major art installation in Weston-Super-Mare; and a multimedia convoy through England inspired by the Moon.

A seasoned marketing, digital, and communications specialist is needed by UNBOXED to oversee dynamic campaigns for significant creative projects that have been commissioned as a part of the UNBOXED initiative.

As the Strategic Campaign Manager, you will serve as the main point of communication between the UNBOXED marcomms team and the marcomms team for the commissions. You will work closely with the commissions to offer advice to them in order to ensure that they are able to identify and maximise opportunities to promote and deliver audiences. Effective communication is a crucial component of this role to ensure full integration and effective delivery of marketing campaigns.

You will report directly to the Director of Audiences and Marketing / Director of Communications to create integrated marketing campaign plans that place audience engagement at their core.

Responsibilities

  • Devise and deliver integrated campaign plans for key high profile UNBOXED commissions, ensuring all aspects of marketing, digital and communications are effectively utilised to meet objectives
  • Ensure project campaign plans support the wider Communications Strategy, actively leading the development of targeted marketing, communications and digital plans for each commission and identifying opportunities for synergies and audience development across the programme
  • Support effective channels of communications, including timely reporting and bringing added value to creative decision-making
  • Prepare and maintain detailed project plans, establishing timelines and monitoring critical paths, and managing delivery risks
  • Prepare briefings and written materials, for both internal and external audiences
  • Lead on the monitoring and evaluation of campaign activity, ensuring timely submission of impact data. In doing so, surface insights to inform ongoing marketing, digital and communication activity.
  • Undertake budget management for individual campaigns, tracking expenditure and ensuring all activity is delivered within the available resources.
  • Own and manage special projects, including undertaking any relevant additional duties identified by the Communications Director or Director of Audience & Marketing.
  • Work closely with the internal marcomms team and external creative agencies, producing audience-centric briefs and managing resource allocations to deliver value-for-money campaigns.
  • Skills and Experience Required

    Essential

  • Relevant professional experience from a strategic role in a marketing, digital and/or communications function
  • Outstanding written and verbal communications skills
  • Strong attention to detail and critical thinking ability
  • Resilient, focused on resolving challenges and identifying solutions
  • Advanced skills in Office 365
  • Experienced in devising and managing integrated marketing, digital and communications campaigns
  • Experience of working in a fast-paced multi-stakeholder environment.

  • Understanding and appreciation for creative programme delivery, including the importance of collaboration with a team of producers
  • Experience of working within an integrated or single-discipline creative agency (perhaps within client services functions)
  • Project management experience

    Duration: Fixed Term Contract until 31st Dec 2022

    Salary: Circa £48,000 per annum pro rata, depending on experience

    Location: 6 Brindley Place, Birmingham, B1 2JB (Full-time, office-based)
