• Project Coordinator – Community Support Services (Leisure)

We’re looking for a part time Project Coordinator to join our Community Support Services (CSS) in Suffolk which supports children, young people and adults who have learning disabilities, acquired brain Injury, physical disabilities, sensory impairments and complex health needs.

The CSS Support includes outreach support, daytime activity groups, social groups and events.

The role will include working 16.5 hours per week across different days, including admin time.

What is this role? Project Lead; Daytime Activity Groups

  • Be the lead and main contact for all Daytime Activity Groups.
  • Coordinate the day to day running of the Daytime Activity Groups.
  • Take ownership and responsibility for any day-to-day project issues.
  • Coordinate the planning and administration of Daytime Activity Groups.
  • Plan and book all Daytime Activity Group activities and days.
  • Coordinate and send/hand out regular programmes of activities / updates to services user’s volunteers, and parents/carers.
  • Recruit project volunteers to ensure all Daytime Activity Groups have a volunteer presence to provide valuable service user support.
  • Ensure all the Daytime Activity Groups are meeting required attendances and outcomes. If attendances are low in any area, ensure that actions are put in place to rectify the issue.
  • Ensure all Daytime Activity Group risk assessments are undertaken and up to date.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with funders, social work teams, schools & colleges as the main contact for Daytime Activity Groups.
  • Provide regular project updates and information to staff and volunteers.
  • Regularly liaise with the Avenues East admin team regarding Daytime Activity Group weekly planned activities, bookings, registrations and payments.
  • Help support the development and growth of Daytime Activity Groups.
  • Provide regular hands-on support/coordination for all LEISURE activities, daytime activity groups, social groups and short breaks/events.
  • Advertise/promote LEISURE and CSS on an ongoing basis, including attending appropriate meetings and networking events.
  • Attend appropriate meetings and networking events to represent the service.

What skills and experience will I need?

  • It would be highly desirable to have experience within the social care background and supporting people with learning disabilities and/or complex needs
  • Experience planning, organising and delivering events and activities (transferable skills and sectors will be considered)
  • Able to self-manage own diary and workload around a monthly staff rota
  • Have and understanding of budgets and required outcomes/outputs
  • Effective communications skills and ability to liaise with internal and external parties
  • Be passionate about supporting others and providing good quality support and engaging activities
  • Be flexible to work across days.
