Remote Jobs for People with Fibromyalgia

People who live with fibromyalgia live with a range of symptoms, most commonly including chronic pain, fatigue, and brain fog. Living with fibromyalgia can be incredibly challenging and many people with the condition may feel that they need to leave their jobs due to the symptoms.

However, there are lots of ways in which people with fibromyalgia can work that can help them manage their symptoms while staying in employment. As a result, financial stress can be reduced and people can stay connected and active in their social life. This might include flexible, hybrid, and remote jobs specifically.

On this page, we are going to discuss how remote jobs for people with fibromyalgia can be particularly beneficial, and where to find them.

Why are Remote Jobs Good for Fibromyalgia?

Many people living with fibromyalgia and chronic pain struggle to work in office, retail or communal working areas. They may find standing/sitting in certain areas very uncomfortable and they may find that working in such environments aggravates their symptoms and/or makes them more fatigued.

They may also struggle with commuting to and from work, as physical commutes can be very inaccessible to those with physical disabilities. Commuting may also exacerbate physical symptoms.

Remote jobs take away these two potentially challenging aspects of work and allow people with fibromyalgia to control their working environment in a way that more easily and safely works for them. They can be comfortable and cut out any commuting.

Home working also allows for easier and more frequent breaks, and allows people with fibromyalgia to fit doctor’s appointments and treatments into their working week.
