This is an exciting opportunity to join the Student Union’s Activities team, supporting student-led community volunteering groups and sourcing new projects with external partners.

You will be required to build partnerships with internal teams across the SU and the University, as well as networking externally across local charities, schools and other organisations, to create a culture of voluntary and social action. You will also be responsible for working with our student led community volunteer groups, as well as sourcing a range of volunteer opportunities for our students, to include the development of student training needs and to provide support and guidance on volunteer good practice.

We are looking for someone with experience in networking with a range of partners, mentoring volunteers in leading projects, as well as an understanding of event management. You will also be required to market and promote student volunteering within the community.

You will be able to work independently and calmly under pressure, yet work well as part of a team and have strong time management and interpersonal skills.

This role is offered on a part-time basis (29 hours per week) over 42 weeks of the year.

Within the Activities team, the volunteering department specialises in connecting with the third sector and other local organisations, to research and promote volunteer opportunities for the student body and to enhance the development of our student leaders. You will be part of a team that ensures our key services are student led and reflect our values.

The Activities area changes and adapts to meet current student needs year on year. You will recognise, adapt and provide innovative ideas in order to continue the development of the area and maintain a high level of student participation.
