We are looking for mixed Veterinary Surgeon to work between our small animal hospital and equine departments. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work at our main hospital as well as at one of our 7 branch practices where the workload is varied with both consulting and surgical roles possible. Our equine department is expanding and as such we require an extra vet to contribute to the workload. Participation in the OOH rota is essential although we are happy to be flexible in the exact split of workload between small animal and equine. Our clinical team is extremely supportive, and we aim to offer our clients an excellent service. We encourage case continuity and aim to provide an excellent atmosphere to develop your own interests. Salary is commensurate with experience but for an experienced vet in the region of £38,000-£48,000pa.
Our award-winning, purpose-built hospital is located on the outskirts of Morpeth and easily accessible with onsite parking. We have branches located across Northumberland. The main hospital has radiography/endoscopy, ultrasonography, dental, laboratory and hydrotherapy suites. We have 4 modern surgical theatres and 6 consulting rooms. Our vets have a wide range of experience and interests and include several certificate holders. We are a nurse training practice and encourage our nurses to continue their education post qualification. We provide our own out of hours service to give our clients an excellent and complete on-site service with 24-hour nursing support. Our equine facilities include 4 stables, stocks examination room, DR x-ray, gastroscope, videoscope, power float for dentals and ultra sound machine. We have an equine nursing assistant to assist with work ups at yards on or site.
Previous experience working in both small animal and equine roles is preferred although a new graduate will be considered. Both senior small animal vets and our equine lead vet, Anna, are willing to support and develop the right candidate if required. You must be an enthusiastic team player who enjoys first opinion practice. We are happy to consider a part time role for the right candidate. Further study including certificates are encouraged and supported. Drivers licence essential.
