This an exciting opportunity to join our Legacy team as a Trainee Legacy Officer. We are looking for a self-motivated person who is keen to learn and be trained, full training will be provided over a period of approximately 2 years to become a qualified Legacy Officer. Working alongside a training plan, you will develop the knowledge and skillset required to become a Legacy Officer. Initially you will join the team as an Administration Assistant, where you will provide pro-active administrative support to the Legacy team to ensure that correspondence is dealt with expeditiously and that legacies are collected promptly.

Initial responsibilities will include, sorting the incoming daily post and manage the filing system and typing all routine letters to relatives advising of Memorial Day and other standard letters when required. You will be required to demonstrate a high level of accuracy and attention to detail as you will be responsible for the creation of new FirstClass legacy records and maintenance of existing records to ensure that the information on the FirstClass legacy system is correct and to also update as maintenance of our database, Raiser Edge. Upon reaching certain milestones with your training, your role will develop and you will progress through our pay structure whilst doing so. You will have the opportunity to attend external training courses and to gain the Certificate in Charity Legacy Administration, a nationally accredited Legacy qualification.

You will progress to managing a full caseload of pecuniary and residuary legacies, including problematic Estates and pursuing legal advice where applicable. Excellent communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly are essential for this role as is a full driver’s licence.
