    The Scarborough, Hull and York Pathology Service (SHYPS) is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Specialist Biomedical Scientist to work in our busy, friendly, Immunology Laboratories at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. 

    Based primarily in Hull, your role will be to carry out analytical tests in the new regional Immunology laboratories. You will rotate through all sections of the department, and lead in your own area, under the supervision of a Senior Biomedical Scientist. We are looking for an individual who is hard working, innovative, sociable, and works well as part of a team.

    Applicants must be state registered with the HCPC, hold an IBMS Specialist Diploma and have three years post registration experience. 

    Main duties of the job

  • Lead your own section of the Immunology laboratory, taking part in all aspects of its running and development. 
  • To carry out the analysis of patient samples, and provide interpretive advice in the provision of a Clinical Laboratory Service according to departmental SOPs and departmental Quality Assurance Policy.
  •  To use and maintain highly specialist scientific instruments for the diagnosis and monitoring of disease. 
  • Communicate effectively with clinicians, nurses and other service users.

    The Immunology Laboratory is based in a purpose built facility at Hull Royal Infirmary that forms part of an integrated Blood Sciences service within The Scarborough Hull and York Pathology Service. The department provides a comprehensive laboratory service to primary and secondary care.
