    York Teaching Hospital Facilities Management is recruiting a highly motivated individual to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

    The role is critical to the Estates Department’s maintenance support service and is demanding and varied as it covers a range of engineering services. The role offers a significant opportunity to contribute to the smooth functioning and maintenance of a range of engineering services in the Trust’s clinical and non-clinical facilities of a very busy directorate and to be part of a team that is constantly working to improve the quality and safety of the Trust’s healthcare facilities.

    The role primarily involves carrying out maintenance on electrical/mechanical systems, and providing support to the permanent shift personnel.

    The successful candidate will have a good general knowledge of Electrical/ Mechanical services and engineering maintenance. And hold a recognised apprenticeship in a relevant discipline with at least 5 years post apprenticeship experience.

    Main duties of the job

    Main duties

  • Working as part of the hospital maintenance team on a wide range of service systems.
  • Completing maintenance tasks as part of the Planned Predictive Maintenance System and Reactive Breakdown Maintenance.
  • To provide an emergency repair service to all joint equipment store equipment (hoists etc.) normally located in patients own home
  • To undertake work appropriate to their core specialist skill to an above base level in an environment where work is managed rather than supervised
  • To work across trades as necessary, actively taking on board new skills and participating in training to improve efficiency within the Estates Department
  • You will be based at York Hospital with occasional travel to other sites (all travel in work time, using an Estates Vehicle).

    Within the department, we offer the opportunity for you to develop your technical skills with employer funded training, and have a range of roles to progress into, from Band 6 upwards

    DBS Checks

    Please be aware that all new employees starting work with us will be charged for the cost of their DBS check if it is required for the role. The cost will be deducted from your salary either in 1 payment or over a six month period once you start employment. By applying you are agreeing to this undertaking. If you are successful you will be asked to confirm if you wish to pay in one amount or in instalments. The charges are currently £27.68 for a standard check and £44.68 for an enhanced check.
