About the opportunity:

Jacobs has developed one of the leading and longest-standing geotechnical and tunnelling consultancy capabilities in the UK, with approximately 400 geotechnical and tunnelling engineers delivering practical and innovative solutions to ground-related problems.

We are entering an exciting time in our growth following recent successful bids and as such, are looking to expand our Geotechnical Engineering Group to increase our capacity and capability. To facilitate this expansion, Jacobs are now looking to employ people with a flair and passion.

The successful person will join a respected and ambitious company with excellent career prospects and international opportunities. The diverse project portfolio will provide diverse opportunities and experiences within the Ground Engineering sector to further develop your career .

  • We’re looking for people who have the passion and drive to be involved with major geotechnical projects.
  • You will assist in leading the delivery of engineering geology input to projects.
  • You will be an effective team member undertaking work on a variety of geotechnical projects.
  • You will provide technical guidance, support and mentoring to junior staff.
  • You will work as part of a diverse and highly skilled team of geotechnical engineers and engineering geologists.

    Here’s What You’ll Need:  

  • Degree in Engineering Geology or other related geoscience degree.
  • Chartered with the Geological Society of London (GSL) or equivalent organisation.
  • Experience of engineering geological assessment including, production of desk studies, planning, design and supervision of ground investigations, geological risk assessments, ground model development and practical experience in the development and design of ground engineering solutions.
  • Experience of leadership and project delivery in a consulting, client or contractor environment.
  • Ability to progress schemes from inception to design completion, with support from others
  • Ability to complete packages of work to agreed budgets and programmes
  • Can effectively communicate with clients, colleagues and outside agencies and build effective working relationships, and is always aiming to exceeding client expectations
  • Experienced and confident with report writing and presentation skills
