The Department of Electronics and Electrical Engineering is inviting applications from candidates for a three-year Research Associate position in Mechatronics and Machine Learning starting in September 2021 to undertake research and development activities in the EPSRC project Manufacturing in Hospital: BioMed 4.0 (Programme Grant EP/V051083/1).
Manufacturing in Hospital: BioMed 4.0 is a programme run by the University of Bath across various Departments and research groups. This research project offers a unique opportunity to be part of the next generation of 3D printing technological development. Conducting individual and collaborative ambitious research in the areas of mechatronics, robotics, machine learning, control and sensing is required.
We are looking for a researcher to design and develop a novel and smart 3D printer platform with autonomous and adaptive capabilities and electrohydrodynamic technology. The researcher must be able to effectively communicate the results to the project partners as well as publish and present the results in international journals and conferences. You will also assist in the supervision of student projects.
Our ideal applicant will need PhD degree in Mechatronics, Robotics, Control or Electronics (or a closely related subject), or equivalent significant relevant experience and professional qualification. We need someone with experience in one or more of the following: autonomous systems, mechanical design, control and electronics, machine learning, modelling. Experience in Linux and Windows OS and programming are essential (e.g. C/C++, Python, MATLAB, Tensorflow).
