Find your place with us and help change lives.

We are one of the largest learning disability charities in the UK, supporting over 2,500 people through our friendly, supportive, creative and diverse teams.

About the Project – Keeping in Touch
We arrange social events around Leeds and provide staff support and door-to-door transport for all events. Due to the pandemic, we have had to be creative with the activities we can provide and have been supporting our members to go for walks, cycling and working on our allotment.

Members are invited to attend several events each month to catch up with their friends.

About the role
This role supports adults with learning disabilities to participate in community based activities and on days/nights out with their friends.

As we ease out of lockdown and venues begin to open again, daytime activities will include walking, cycling, crafts, drama groups, coffee mornings, volunteer placements, conservation work and anything else our members are interested in trying. Evening activities may include going out to bowling, cinema, visiting restaurants, pubs, theatre, playing snooker and any other social activities our members may enjoy.

About you
You don’t need experience of support work or any special qualifications for this job – you’ll get plenty of training along the way. What matters most is your positive attitude to life and your desire to support people to live their life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible.

We support people to travel to and from the activities and events, so a full, current EU/UK driving licence and willingness to drive Hft vehicles, as and when required is an essential.

What we offer
We offer a range of benefits and career development opportunities. We’ll give you a comprehensive induction, full training and support along the way. With Investors in People

and Skills for Care accreditation we are committed to investing in our teams to ensure they have the specialist skills and expertise needed to support others to live the best life possible.

Join us and help us change lives.

Hft’s usual terms and conditions apply.
Hft is committed to equal opportunities and welcomes applications from all sections of the community. As a Disability Confident Employer, Hft is helping to ensure that disabled people have the same opportunities to fulfil their potential and realise their aspirations that people without disabilities do.
Successful applicants will need to undertake an enhanced disclosure check against the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS). Having a criminal record may not bar you from employment.
