Summary

The Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) is delighted to advertise the opportunity of a Project Manager role in the Digital and Commercial Directorate.

The Analysis and Delivery Team within Change Delivery for DTS, delivers a wide range of IT project and service change. This includes but is not limited to, software and hardware upgrades, security and infrastructure enhancements (through our multiple suppliers), IT accessibility service and change support, and innovation opportunities. We are a supportive team that collaborates within and externally, to ensure we all achieve success.

We are seeking experienced project managers to take approved projects and establish business/ user requirements and options, make recommendations for governance approval, test the solution using proof of concept, pilot and other approved rigorous testing methodologies before managing the implementation and finally project closure –all to agreed timescales, within funding limits and to a high standard of quality.

As a project manager, you will demonstrate your ability to own the change and take responsibility for ensuring delivery to challenging timescales. You will communicate your progress and escalate risks/ blockers to senior managers. You will be a strong and communicator of your achievements and progress of delivering change as part of stakeholder engagement and governance.

Line management may be required as the team evolves. Travel will be required to other CPS sites (when Covid restrictions allow and when its necessary to travel). Experience of project management practices and methodologies is very advantageous.

To be effective in a multi supplier environment, supporting the delivery of new or transitioning services and supporting service integration to minimise impact on operational delivery. Provides coordinated management of specific Digital and Information Technology change deliverables working with Digital, Information Technology colleagues and external suppliers to meet business and user requirements maximising benefits within the context of scope, quality, time and cost.

Proactively engages users at regular and appropriate opportunities to ensure user centric design with high quality training and support. Demonstrate leadership capabilities to support DTS transformation and delivery of the 2025 Digital Strategy.

Responsibilities

Deliver change projects and products using appropriate delivery methodologies, iterating frequently in order to meet specific business and user requirements.

Builds strong working relationships with delivery partners who are involved in developing and deploying ICT products and services as well as with internal colleagues across corporate services, HQ and areas.

Provides advice and guidance, both verbally and in writing, to senior business users (up to and including HQ Director level) and the technology change forum in determining requirements and priorities, and the resolution of issues, for changes.

Assesses the potential benefit to the department of specific technologies, products, methods and techniques. Evaluates and makes recommendations on technical options as appropriate.

Works within a defined governance framework, which may be under the oversight and/or direction of a project/programme management office.
