PLANNING ENGINEE R

As a Planning Engineer you will work within Project Controls, under the direction and leadership of a Senior Project Controls Engineer to establish, develop and maintain Project schedules / plans for one of our key clients. This will include the timely and accurate maintenance of the Work Schedule in adherence with client processes, management of contract schedules, and provision of time-related data and analysis.

CORE ACCOUNTABILITIES :

  • Ensure alignment of data between planning and other disciplines within project controls
  • Work with key interfaces to identify and understand issues and concerns
  • Collaboratively resolve issues, implement corrective action, or escalate as required
  • Maintain project data within area of work, identify local issues and suggest resolutions or changes
  • Support the project controls manager in the implementation and maintenance of the project controls processes for planning, including the production of monthly reports, through the provision of intelligent information and analysis
  • Collaborate with other disciplines to help deliver project goals
  • Maintain an awareness of schedule interfaces with other Programmes and their potential impact
  • Produce and maintain the schedule baseline Work Schedule, with fully logic-linked work plans aligned to the Work Breakdown Structures
  • Ensure the Level 2 Work Schedule is updated to an agreed timeframe for monthly reporting
  • Ensure schedules are updated when required to reflect work progress and performance, to an agreed timeframe
  • Ensure that contractor schedules are produced in accordance with processes and ensure that they align to the Work Schedule forecast position
  • Maintain daily and weekly work planning in the 4D model
  • Provide quality checks on the Scheduling data
  • Identify, analyse, and provide solutions to time-related issues
  • Co-ordinate and produce schedule reports to a defined reporting cycle
  • Assist in the trend & change process, including analysis of schedule impact, generating performance indicators and providing feedback on areas of risk and opportunity
  • Adhere to project governance, scheduling standards and procedures
  • Ensure all project documents are correctly protectively marked, and protected in accordance with policies and procedures
  • WHAT YOU CAN BRING :

  • Detailed understanding of scheduling methodologies and techniques
  • Technical and practical comprehension of engineering, procurement and construction methods and techniques in a UK context
  • Ability to produce accurate, complete, and fully logic-linked construction plans
  • Good working knowledge of Primavera P6
  • High level of analytical and numerical skills
  • Good attention to detail
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Understanding of other elements of project controls (particularly Estimating, Cost and Risk) including management techniques and associated software
  • Understanding of earned value analysis
  • Understanding of various contract types, in particular NEC and FIDIC
  • Working knowledge of schedule risk analysis techniques
  • Good commercial awareness
