People HR and Development Assistant

The Role

The People and OD Assistant is a key role within the People (HR) Team. This is a great opportunity for an enthusiastic, dedicated individual who would like to develop their career in a supportive environment, whilst also being able to make impactful change across the People Agenda.

This unique and varied role will complete day-to-day HR advisory and learning and development tasks/activity and will contribute to supporting and developing our people having real influence over our success and that of learners in the Sheffield City region.

Key tasks will include:

Complete planning & administration, tracking and monitoring activity for learning & development activity such as Induction, Mandatory Training, projects and all college development days.

Provide an advisory service to managers and colleagues on people related terms and conditions and policies.

Update and maintain People team intranet pages/hubs with relevant information.

Develop relationships with and providing support, guidance and 1:1 coaching to line managers within designated areas on handling a broad range of employee issues such as sickness absence; performance management and disciplinary / conduct issues, seeking advice and guidance as appropriate from more experienced members of the People Team.

Accurately prepare documentation, communications and information including letters, emails and records and maintaining and storing data in line with GDPR.

To be successful in this role you will need excellent planning and organising skills and experience being used to working to deadlines. You will be skilled at working with others to achieve goals with strong communication skills and a professional manner at all times. IT skills are a necessity being able to demonstrate use of Microsoft Office packages and experience of using the google suits would be advantageous.
