IT Change and Configuration Analyst

 Location: Cirencester

What you’ll be doing:

Reporting to the Technology Change Manager, the primary objective for this role is to drive and assist in the assessment and analysis of changes to ensure the impact on all Technology areas (infrastructure, networks, telephony, data etc.,) is understood and the effective resource planning impact of all Business requests for change or projects on Technology Operations Teams.

  • The main responsibilities of the role are to attend the Technology & Business Change boards with main purpose of: Identifying when a change may impact any team in the Technology Operations Group and informing the relevant team manager. Understanding the changes required and work with the relevant team managers and members to assist in estimating effort and forecast planning from a resource perspective
  • Proactively promote Technology Operations requirements into the project world, being a central point and liaising with Project Managers on the impact of the change (both in terms of effort and timing) to ensure project managers plan appropriately and provide sufficient lead times
  • Ensure non-functional requirements (such as DR, monitoring, security etc.) is included in the assessment
  • Ensure an effective hand over of knowledge about the change from initial assessment to the relevant team to carry out the work
  • Managing or coordinating small changes on behalf of team managers
  • Prepare documentation (including reports, agendas and minutes) for Change Advisory Board (CAB).
  • Produce the Forward Schedule of Change (FSC) and publish to all stakeholders and support teams
  • Register or assist in creating Emergency Changes retrospectively
  • Provide the Requestor with appropriate information for all rejected changes, and assist in re-submissions if required
  • Check that the CMDB is up to date after the implementation of changes, any new Configuration Items (CIs) and their relationships reflect a true picture of the service
  • Chair regular and ad-hoc meetings & prepare presentations if required

    Requirements of the Job:

    Essential:

  • Ability to engage with multiple stakeholders and to communicate clearly with a range of people at different levels of the organisation, including the ability to liaise, explain and discuss complex issues using a range of tools, styles and techniques
  • Demonstrable understanding of the pressures and demands of a fast-moving, complex environment
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and co-ordinate own and team activities
  • Knowledge and experience of working with ITIL service management good practices, particularly Change and Configuration Management
  • Ability to estimate risk of potential business impact from minimal data
  • Experience in facilitation of meetings
  • Experience of documenting process and procedures
  • Job Knowledge:

    The individual will require:

  • A Technical background in a Technology Operations environment preferably in infrastructure and/or some network understanding
  • Previous experience in Technology Change and Configuration planning of Changes, their impact assessment and management
  • Previous experience in planning of technical change
  • Be a team player, willing to share information, and foster a positive team environment, working effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues
  • The candidate will have experience of working with:

  • Business Change process & a Technology Change Management Process, based around the ITIL framework
  • Strong understanding of business readiness, impact assessments and resource requirements.
