As part of our multi-disciplinary design consultancy in Birmingham our Building Services team are involved in a variety of planned and reactive maintenance, refurbishment and new build projects including several multi-million-pound development schemes and framework agreements within the construction industry.

We have an excellent opportunity for an Electrical Building Services Engineer who is looking to further develop their experience and responsibilities within the Building Services sector within our Birmingham Office.

The work at present mainly involves working with our framework partners at Wolverhampton Homes on a variety of local residential low and high rise projects. We are also currently working for Worcestershire County Council & University of Warwick on various projects. Outside of the main clients we support the wider business on other national / international major schemes including Aviation, Highways, Rail, MoD etc

The post involves assisting Senior Design Engineers to undertake designs of Electrical Building Services. The position will include appropriate training and attendance at a further education college / university on a regular basis if required.


  • Carry out design of Electrical Building services under the supervision of senior engineers using industry standard calculation software such as Amtech, Hevacomp and Dialux
  • Work with and assist both Senior Mechanical & Electrical Engineers together with other members of a multidiscipline design team
  • Liaise with clients and other design disciplines
  • Produce specifications, design drawings, survey work under the supervision of a senior engineer
  • Write technical reports and produce detailed calculations
  • Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Qualification (HNC) leading to Degree Standard in a relevant discipline, or equivalent
  • Knowledge and experience of UK regulations is essential
  • Experience of working within Building Services engineering design consultancy practice
  • Working knowledge of AutoCad
  • Revit MEP awareness and willingness to develop to BIM standards
  • An appreciation of quality assurance and business management
  • Good communication skills
  • Able to work effectively with colleagues and with a professional approach to external clients
  • An enquiring approach with a desire to explore innovative ideas whilst still understanding the need for a good commercial balance
  • Must be of smart appearance with a professional attitude and enthusiastic
  • Being able to work as part of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Report writing skills, with MS Office experience
  • Available to travel short term in UK and overseas
