We are looking for an experienced business development manager to lead the business and stakeholder engagement for the Centre for Future Clean Mobility (CFCM). The recently established Centre for Future Clean Mobility at the University of Exeter stands at the forefront of the road to zero carbon with a growing programme of collaboration with the rail, marine, transport and defence sectors to develop low-emissions, high-efficiency power systems

The CFCM at the University of Exeter has specific strengths and opportunities in powertrain design and test; optimal fuel efficiency; battery pack design and test; control system design and autonomous systems with a significant range of academic, research, facilities and training offers. It has strong relationships with policy makers, businesses, charities and other non-academic partners in these sectors and makes a real impact on society and the economy.

The successful candidate will have experience of working successfully with partners from across private, academic, and public sectors and will have extensive knowledge of industry innovation, research, and education opportunities and the knowledge exchange needs of the sector. They will be responsible for coordinating and supporting existing activities in this area, identifying opportunities to deliver greater value to these sectors and to the University, working with various industry sectors, researchers from across disciplines, and policy makers.

This role will be part of the University’s Innovation, Impact and Business (IIB) team and be based in the Science Park in the Centre for Future Clean Mobility. Its key aim is to draw on the Centre’s research, education, and physical assets to add value and impact to our partners. This includes research collaboration, commercial services, new venture development, skills, placements, and education partnerships.
