Here within our Asylum Accommodation and Support Contract an opportunity has arisen for an experienced Housing Officer with strong interpersonal skills to work our AASC contract. AASC offers a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system. Our Housing Officers are responsible for ensuring compliance with the AASC Contract, company policies, processes and procedures through their liaison with Staff, Service Users, Landlords, External Agencies and Partners.

You will ensure that all properties within the allocated portfolio are safe, habitable, fit for purpose and fully equipped by completing Monthly Inspections. You will report Property Faults and complete all minor property repairs and ensuring that all Service Users maintain compliance with the conditions of their support provision. You will provide welfare support and signposting to the Service Users and manage on-boarding and withdrawal of properties as required.

As part of this you’ll:

  • Responding to customer complaints and requests.
  • Dealing with Medical emergencies and manage any incidents.
  • Management of domestic violence, violence, anti-social behaviour and child safeguarding needs.
  • Administration of operational cash to enable the completion of tasks such as topping up of utility metres & emergency cash payments
  • Due to the nature of the role Security Clearance at Counter Terrorism Check level and Criminal Record Bureau checks are required (all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).

      What you need to do the role

    First and foremost, you’ll need to have worked in a similar role or gained at least 1-2 years’ worth of experience in a Housing officer role. Previous experience dealing with landlords and tenants would be extremely desirable but not essential as training will be provided. You will be extremely organised, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.

    The successful applicant will be computer literate, proactive, confident managing conflict, willing to travel and reliable. We are looking for someone that can communicate at all levels, build strong working relationships and be a successful part of an ever-growing team.

    What else do I need to know?

    There is a requirement to operate an Emergency On-Call system outside of normal working hours amongst all Housing Officers on a rota basis.
