In this pivotal role of Financial Accountant you will be expected to be responsible for leading a team in the day-to-day operation and control of payroll and pension matters across the University. You will be responsible for the delivery of customer service focused processes to support academic and other managers and will ensure that payroll and pension services are delivered in an effective, compliant and professional manner.
You will support the team responsible for quarterly and annual financial reporting.
The University has a turnover approaching £300m. It employs over 3,000 (fte) staff in 3 academic Faculties, one school and professional and support service departments. The Finance and Procurement Office (F&PO) is responsible for managing the University’s finances and cash flows, ensuring value for money in its financial activities and compliance with statutory and regulatory bodies and financial best practice. This position is responsible for supporting these services, with responsibility for leading the Payroll & Pension team. Staff costs at the University exceed £150m per annum. This team are responsible for the delivery and reporting of the University’s pay function and also provides payroll services to a number of associated organisations. The team works closely the Departments of Human Resources and Computer Services, we use iTrent, an integrated HR & Payroll solution which includes a sophisticated Employee Self Service function.
This a fixed-term role to cover maternity leave with an expected end date of 8 November 2022 (or the early return of the post holder).
