Education and Student Support

This full-time fixed-term maternity cover post is available from 3 November 2021 until 23 September 2022.

The Education and Student Support (ESS) Directorate provides all the key administration and education support activities that underpin the student experience from Fresher’s week to Graduation. This role is within the Education Support team which provides the core and critical operational support for teaching administration and support for delivery of taught undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.

About the role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Education Support Manager to join our Education Support Team, working at our St Luke’s Hub on the St Luke’s campus.

The Education Support Team provides the core and critical operational support for teaching administration and support for delivery of all University of Exeter taught programmes for Undergraduate and Postgraduate Taught students. This is a large team of approximately 120 staff working across multiple “hub” locations and across three campuses. 

Some of the main duties include:

  • Providing leadership and education partnership advice and support for key academic staff for the delivery of College and University priorities across a package of programme and discipline responsibilities.
  • Leading a team and having responsibility for monitoring service standards, ensuring continuous improvement to policies and practices, and the development and implementation of high-quality support for students and staff in the full range of student experience and teaching delivery, from the point of registration through to graduation, including underpinning systems support.
  • Acting as a senior point of contact for operational issues and challenges, and to support the resolution of complex issues, and high-level and high-impact academic enquiries and problems, ensuring that action is taken in accordance with University policy and processes, while also ensuring issues are resolved to a high customer service standard. 
  • About you

    You will have:

  • Significant experience of student support management and programme administration experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills and proven track record of building relationships of influence with staff at all levels.
  • Experience of successful team leadership, including team development and workload planning, staff performance appraisal, performance management.
  • Experience of the SITS system or an equivalent large student records database.
