Business overview per Business Area:

We have an exciting opportunity available within our Editorial Department at Emmerdale. The role will be based within the Pre Production team who are responsible for the successful and accurate delivery of timed scripts for onward delivery to the Production Teams, as well as making sure that all Emmerdale episodes are cleared for transmission and that all the related paperwork meets with strict deadlines.

This role entails…

As our Editorial / Clearance Coordinator you will cover all aspects of scripts for the Pre Production of the programme. These will include importing and formatting scripts, writing scene synopses, reading scripts for production continuity, assisting with the timing of scripts, as well as providing a full administration service to the team. For clearance, you will arrange artiste payments, credits, programme portrayal, transcribe episodes, as well as enter information into Silvermouse, logging music and visual footage details for copyright.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all aspects of scripts for the Pre Production of the programme.

  • Receive all script versions from the writers and process these in Nucleus ensuring consistent formatting.

  • Prepare and input scene synopses when required.

  • Input of script amendments into Nucleus and assist with the publishing of timed shooting scripts.

  • Liaise with the Print Room to ensure that scripts are sent to print on time and are effectively distributed to all relevant individuals.

  • Work alongside the Script Editors to issue amendments to the cast and crew for blocks that are in production.

  • Time episodes (checking durations) and check credits.

  • Enter information into Silvermouse.

  • Calculate Artistes weekly fees & submit to Artiste Payments.

  • What do I need to get this role/job?

    Minimum criteria 

  • Strong organisational, administrative and secretarial skills (including keyboard skills).

  • Experience in an Administration role of 6 months or more.

  • Excellent accuracy and attention to detail.

  • Flexible approach to working hours.

  • Ability to work under own initiative and without constant supervision including the ability to adapt to changing priorities and hitting strict deadlines.

  • A basic understanding of television production through experience of working in Television for 3 or more months.

  • Competent IT Skills. Ability to use computer systems including Microsoft Office and Google Mail/Drive/Sheets.

    Key Criteria:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with an ability to change approach depending on the circumstances.

  • Methodical approach to task completion.

  • Adaptability and being able to work to deadlines in a sometimes pressurised environment.

  • Knowledge of script writing software would be an advantage, but not essential as full training will be given.

  • Self motivated.

  • Strong team player.
