Balfour Beatty Vinci has an exciting opportunity for a Drainage Design Manager – Delivery to join our team to work in Birmingham.
Providing appropriate challenge for safe and cost-effective solutions.
Providing technical support to design management for Permanent and Temporary works
Management of opportunities and risks
What you’ll be doing
Oversee the drainage design development (surface drainage, deep drainage, river diversions) for one or several sublots and provide expertise to solve technical issues.
Liaise with the designer and other project departments on drainage typical drawings and standardisation.
Oversee the management of risk and opportunity relating to design and construction
Provide technical expertise to ensure realisation of opportunities and management of risks.
Technical Assurance checks and reviews of drainage part of the temporary and permanent design, with appropriate challenge for cost efficient solutions.
Follow the required BBV assurance processes.
Advise on construction methods
Maintain links with specialist subcontractors/experts, in particular within-Group expertise.
Maintain a high degree of technical competence and an awareness of current sources of external, practical, cost-effective design and construction advice.
Ensure a relentless focus on Health, Safety and Welfare.
Who we’re looking for
Qualified Civil Engineer
Significant experience at a senior level in consultancy and/or a main contractor or earthworks contractor
Experience of risk identification, quantification and mitigation
Broad experience of all aspects of drainage and water management
Experience and confidence to constructively challenge to optimise design solutions which balance project requirements, risks and constraints
BBV behaviours, respecting equality and diversity
People management skills, effective delegation, mentoring, coaching and developing others
Working knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations
Membership of a relevant professional body is advantageous
Excellent relevant experience
Large scale linear project experience (eg rail, highway or similar).
Holding a valid CSCS card
