The EDPM Sector of SNC-Lavalin operates across four geographic regions (UK & Europe, Canada, USA, Middle East & Asia Pacific) with total revenues of around $4.0bn CAD and 20,000 employees. Our purpose is to stimulate growth across all markets and lines of business. By harnessing technology and data, we’re changing how infrastructure is delivered, with unrivalled certainty and improved outcomes for clients and stakeholders. 

As Digital Portfolio & Products Director, you’ll collaborate with Global Practice Leads while reporting to the Global Head of Digital. We’ll entrust you with the strategic direction and management of SNC-Lavalin’s global portfolio, ensuring a highly coordinated approach across all of our digital products and tools.

From portfolio oversight and controls to product development, strategy and management, you’ll collaborate with product teams to embed a value-based culture and approach across the portfolio. Together with your teams, you’ll achieve maximum impact and value internally and externally.

As an astute business leader, you’ll leverage industry best practices to standardise the approach and methods applied to product life cycle management. Streamlining the global business, you’ll optimise technology architecture and investment through a global product pipeline and roadmap.

From Digital Future to Design Transformation, Engineering Net Zero to realising EDPM’s accelerated growth strategy – you’ll ensure visibility and coherence across some of our most vital projects and programmes.

  • Direct an initial audit to identify and classify all proprietary products and tools.
  • Apply product management principles to further enhance the Digital Store as a central repository of all digital products, tools and services.
  • Proactively engage with the business to understand new products and tools in development, agreeing where they fit in the wider portfolio.
  • Working with Global Practice Leads, define agreed technology stacks needed to support their objectives – including bought and proprietary solutions.
  • Oversee the development of business cases for new products to ensure they are commercially viable, including setting and monitoring investment targets.
  • Establish and manage a Product Development Forum, or similar mechanism, to orchestrate and align technology requirements and build plans.
  • Work with the GTC to define and implement an overarching operating model for product development (scaling) and support.
  • Ensure all products in development have clear change and engagement plans to drive adoption.
  • Develop and embed a standard approach to product life cycle management applicable to all products, global and regional.
  • Line manage Product Owners (global products) – ensuring the right processes are followed by their teams, including the approach to product support, SLAs, use case backlog, enhancements.

  • Demonstrable expertise in developing and maintaining software products (full software lifecycle).
  • Hands-on knowledge leading and managing product and software teams.
  • Background developing and delivering against investment cases.
  • Background managing a large portfolio of diverse products ensuring alignment to strategy.
  • Understanding of and application of commercial and legal frameworks in the context of software products.
  • Preferred experience in the engineering and construction industry, working with and influencing strategic partners and senior stakeholders at board level.
  • Proficiency working with virtual teams globally to develop, operate and maintain products, preferred.
