Job description

We are seeking an experienced Agile Delivery Manager to be accountable for the technical delivery of projects. You will work closely with the Project Manager and across multiple technology and business teams.

You will work with a team of delivery managers across all platform teams in the domain. You will work with the architect, solution designer and wider team to support creation of the solution design.

You work with line management to manage project assigned internal IT resources to deliver the solution to the agreed plan, considering time, budget and quality, whilst motivating the delivery team and acting as servant leader.

The amount of work required of an Agile Delivery Manager for a given project will vary dependent on the size, complexity and content of the Project. However, the scope of generic responsibilities is consistent across projects.

Role Requirements Minimum Essential Criteria

  • Minimum of 3 years practical experience working in a similar role.
  • Have in-depth experience of the delivery of IT projects using agile, waterfall and hybrid methodologies with a strong focus on agile.
  • High level knowledge of software technology and development processes, particularly Scrum, Kanban, Test Driven Development, disciplined agile delivery, SDLC and lean development.
  • Have a strong emphasis on quality, accuracy and meeting deadlines
  • You can apply experience of multiple parts of the product life cycle. You can recognise when it is right to move forward and when it is right to stop. You can recognise the appropriate deliverables and the right people to meet these.
  • Has a deep knowledge of and leads on a range of Agile and Lean tools and techniques, with an ability to coach within and outside of their team
  • Have excellent partner management skills, with the ability to advise senior staff on area of expertise and present at Project Board / Delivery Board meetings business decisions at senior management level.
  • Have excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to take a continuous approach to planning, forecasting, estimating, managing uncertainty, metrics/measurements and contingency planning
  • Be self-motivated and able to work calmly under pressure.
  • Create and maintain teams, ensuring they are motivated, collaborating and working well
  • Coach and mentor both team members and others to apply the most appropriate agile and lean tools and techniques
  • Have awareness and management of Risk identification & mitigation.
  • Have relevant professional experience and /or appropriate industry qualifications
  • Have a broad knowledge of Technology should exist as they will often liaise with colleagues across Security, Applications and Infrastructure
  • Have a proven track record of forming and maintaining effective and trusting relationships with business colleagues and be able to demonstrate an interest in and understanding of business processes.
  • How you will make a difference

  • Championing agile delivery methodology and help build understanding, capability and maturity across all DA&M teams.
  • Facilitating cross-functional groups to plan and deliver projects – identifying which methodology best fits the needs and style of the team.
  • Facilitate the right conversations with the Product Owner and scrum team to define the project scope. This will include collaboration with the Business with respect to change prioritization) and delivery plans in conjunction with Platform Leads (resource managers),
  • The management of key technology deliverables, working within agreed processes, leading to successful delivery against plan.
  • The coordination of Technology activities and management of dependencies to deliver the required work packages across major projects, minor projects, small change releases and standalone CR’s requiring a Delivery Manager.
  • The reporting of Technology progress against plans to the PM and/or Platform Lead, managing / escalating exceptions to the PM and project governance boards and/or Platform Leads.
  • The building of key internal and external networks in order to hold effective negotiations.
  • Facilitating agile ceremonies and overseeing production of relevant artefacts.
  • This role offers a base salary of up to £55,000p.a(subject to experience and skillset). The total package also includes: 

    •A non-contributory, career average pension giving you a guaranteed retirement benefit of 1/95th of your annual salary for every year worked. There is the option to increase your pension (to 1/50th) or decrease (to 1/120th) in exchange for salary through our flexible benefits programme each year.

    •A 7% benefits allowance with the option to take as salary or purchase a wide range of flexible benefits.

    •25 days annual leave with option to buy up to 13 additional days through flexible benefits.
