    Job Introduction

    As the world’s largest online newspaper, MailOnline constantly processes billions of data points in order to provide insights and targeting criteria for teams and stakeholders. MailOnline is seeking an aspiring Data Engineer to evolve its Big Data technologies and advance its overall data proposition.

    The Data Engineer will support analysts and other teams within their goals by developing data processes for their requirements. To be successful in this role is it essential to think as a business and to act as a data engineer. This individual should be smart, critical, pragmatic and have a passion for solving complex problems. 

    Main Responsibilities

  • Support and evolve the current data warehouse infrastructure
  • Development and deployment of ETLs (Azure DataFactory, Functions and others)
  • Testing and data validation
  • Work on data-driven products
  • Person Specification


  • Bachelor’s degree (masters’ preferred) in Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or any other technology related field.
  • Minimum 3 years of working experience in data engineering.
  • Experienced with Azure Cloud Services including DataFactory, Functions and SSIS.
  • Very good in SQL, Python, or other development languages.
  • Beneficial to have

  • Experience with Spark and Big Data
  • Experience with Elastic Search
  • Experience with digital web data from sources such as Adobe, GA or DFP
  • Experience in Machine Learning and Data Science
