A fantastic opportunity for BI Developer’s within Data and Analytics as a function of DWP Digital. Data and Analytics provides data services across government. The roles involve the design and development of best in class dashboards and visualisations utilising leading MI tooling, providing Data and Analytics portfolio with key metrics that report directly to senior managers and Digital Executive team, as project and budget assurance. You will work collaboratively with customers and suppliers gathering detailed requirements and turning these into user stories for development. Comprehensive training and learning development are available and encouraged.
You will gather data from a range of data sources and extract the relevant data to produce visualisations for actionable insight. You will design and build effective self-service apps which comply with design and accessibility standards across the department.
The insight provided supports the Portfolio and Planning function, and Hybrid Cloud Services Cost Optimisation function.
This allows portfolio to better understand and demonstrate the capability and capacity of the directorate, by division and by product team. Enabling better workforce management and planning. It also provides lines of business insights into their cloud costs, including recommendations how to better manage these while maximising business value.
You will work with a number of stakeholders to reduce the amount of manual data gather and work to create automations for the capture and transformation of this data, driving standardisation of recording management information across Data and Analytics.
You will manage your backlog of work through Jira and prioritise the team’s backlog according to the value of each story and be a source of technical expertise for the team and provide innovative solutions to enhance value delivery.
As a BI Developer you will collects and organise data and develop visual representations to communicate with technical and non-technical audiences. You will use visualisation tools and techniques to provide business insights and support decision making. You will become an SME in the data and its meaning, and help
In this role you will

Your responsibilities will include but are not restricted to, the following:
•Responsible for developing Management Information (MI) / Business Intelligence (BI) reports and Dashboards to meet customer requirements.
•Gather and understand end user requirements.
•As a BI developer you are responsible for the development and maintenance activities for the delivery of data products and services to meet customer needs to agreed timescales.
•Develop automated data pipelines for structured and unstructured data.
•Rapid prototyping and productionised product development.
•Responsible for delivering data processing pipelines in a cloud or on premise environment.
The ideal candidate for this role will be able to demonstrate the following essential criteria:
•Designs, develops. codes, tests, corrects and documents simple programs or scripts under the direction of others.
•Aware of the need to translate technical concepts into non-technical language and understands what communication is required to internal and external stakeholders.
•Understands the appropriate media to communicate findings. Shapes and shares communications cognisant of the audience.
•Experience with one or more BI Tools eg. Qlik, Power BI etc.
•Programming Languages – Experience in SQL..
•Awareness of cloud technologies and key services.

Salary for this role is from £35,310 (Band min) to £40,666 (Band max).
Where the maximum salary is offered, a Digital Allowance of up to £1,016 per annum is available for exceptional candidates, based on our assessment of your skills and experience.

Existing Civil Servants who secure a new role on lateral transfer should maintain their current salary.
Existing Civil Servants who gain promotion may move to the bottom of the next grade pay scale or 10% increase in salary whichever would be the greater.
This role can be based out of either (Blackpool, Newcastle, Leeds or Sheffield) corporate hub locations.
The Department is committed to promoting flexible ways of working, whilst enabling the business to operate at maximum efficiency and will expect colleagues to work from a blend of locations, including some time working at home, as required. The corporate hub location will be the designated place of work and any remote or home working arrangement does not constitute a change to your designated place of work or contractual Terms and Conditions.
