The Role

There are few jobs where you can make a real difference to the 40 million consumers of financial products, the 2 million people who work in the UK Financial Services industry, and the stability of our economy. The FCA has three objectives:

  • ensuring that markets operate with integrity
  • promoting effective competition; and
  • protecting consumers of financial services
  • The Central Data Services (CDS) department, within the Innovation Division, leads the FCA Data Strategy and enables the organisation to harness the power of data and analytics. It provides central co-ordination of all data-related activities, including data collection, management and governance.

    The department’s key responsibilities include:

  • Management and collection of data
  • Providing data quality assurance on business-critical datasets
  • Delivering insightful analysis using data and information Driving forward business system changes which support data management activities
  • Supporting the implementation of the FCA’s Data Strategy
  • We’re now recruiting for an Administrator to provide Data Analysis Support in the Data Analysis & Insight Team within CDS. Data Analysis & Insight is responsible for enhancing the value the FCA gets from data through analysis and through solutions that empower others to use and get insight from data. We are looking for an enthusiastic individual with a desire to learn and work with data, with the possibility to progress to a junior data analyst role.

    What does the role involve? What are the key responsibilities?

  • Providing efficient and professional administrative support to the Department
  • Supporting the data publications process by setting up review slots, performing data quality checks and sending queries to firms
  • Proactively identifying process improvements for effectiveness and efficiency
  • Resolving data queries in a timely and effective manner
  • Management of several high-volume inboxes to ensure items are completed in a timely manner. Use judgement and initiative to action as appropriate
  • Liaising with stakeholders to progress given tasks
  • Supporting team project management and task prioritisation
  • Producing written correspondence to FCA standards
  • Effectively communicating with internal and external stakeholders
  • Organising meetings, room bookings and PA support
  • Minute and actions taking for team meetings
  • Recruitment – diary availability, room booking and case study facilitation
  • Cover for Head of Department’s PA in periods of absence or leave to include managing diaries

  • Previous administration experience in a fast-paced operational team
  • Very good communication skills – effective written communication
  • Proven advanced IT skills, particularly Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint and OneNote

  • Experience of working with senior stakeholders or in a regulatory environment
  • Experience with the FCA, and a general understanding of the structure of the FCA and its objectives
