We are transforming our ideas about how we support clients with complex needs in Lambeth, and are looking for staff with expertise in cognitive behavioural therapy to deliver evidence-based interventions to service users with complex affective and behavioural problems, often in the context of complex trauma.

Our new services are reaching across our community team and primary care settings. You will work alongside colleagues using a range of approaches, including systemic and community psychology understandings. You will support junior therapy staff as appropriate.

You will deliver high quality, evidence based psychological assessments, formulations and interventions, particularly CBT, 1:1 or in groups. You will also have or be willing to gain, expertise in another relevant specialism, particularly mentalisation-based therapy or CBT for bipolar. You would be part of the Secondary Care Psychological Therapies Service and a multi disciplinary Short Term Support CMHT.

In the multi disciplinary CMHT you will offer a range of advice, consultation and joint working to the CMHT, particularly in complex affective /anxiety / trauma and personality presentations, supported through your supervision.

Applicants must be Clinical Psychologists or CBT therapists. You will have, or expect to gain on qualifying, appropriate accreditation and registration. The post would suit newly qualified high-intensity therapists. In such case, the appointed candidate will be offered a band 6 fixed term contract and this will be reviewed once registration requirements are met within an agreed and specified time-frame.

We believe strongly in staff development and have excellent opportunities to develop this through CPD opportunities across the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust and through strong links with the Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience.

The position is full-time, and full-time applications are preferred. Part-time applications for three or more days/week will be considered. The borough’s pandemic response has required flexibility of psychological therapists in working remotely and face to face as required by the service. The interview will be by remote video.

Lambeth is a borough of high social and psychological needs with considerable cultural diversity. We welcome applicants from diverse backgrounds.

The Trust is committed to providing services which embrace diversity and that promote equality of opportunity. We are a Disability Confident Employer, we welcome applicants from all sections of the community and people of all protected characteristics. We aim to put this commitment into practice by:

  • Ensuring that all our services and all staff understand and support our commitment
  • We believe that people who use our services, their carers and our staff, should be treated with compassion, respect and dignity
