Here at Serco we have an opportunity for a Cleaner to join our close-knit team working in our Asylum Accommodation and Support Services based in Birchwood. AASC offers a range of improvements, with particular focus on assisting individuals through the asylum system.
The primary function of this role is to provide cleaning services in the Birchwood area which may vary dependant on business need so a valid driver’s licence, a willingness and ability to travel within the region and occasionally within the UK is essential. You must adhere to all Health & Safety standards and work regulations both statutory and legal including COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to health).
You will be responsible for cleaning carpets where required using appropriate equipment & PPE, ensuring that all equipment/ cleaning materials are used in-line with the given guidelines, notify the Maintenance Administration Department if any defects are found that may pose a health and safety risk and removing appropriate waste from properties when in attendance and ensure the waste is disposed of in approved license areas and re-cycled where possible.
As part of this you’ll:
- Complete all required tasks within expected timescales and update AORA system.
- Ensure the safety of all Service Users of the property whilst cleaning at a property.
- Check all relevant property reports before undertaking works in the properties (e.g. asbestos, dangerous persons).
- Deliver, assemble and remove inventory within Serco accommodation.
- Where specified only purchase the agreed Serco standard material’s unless alternative substitutions can be provide due to stock requirements.
- Replenish the stock inventory when required and update line manager and AORA.
What you need to do the role
First and foremost, you’ll need to have worked in a similar role or gained at least 1 years’ worth of experience in a cleaning position. Previous experience of cleaning households or large accommodation would be beneficial. Ideally you will have prior scheduling experience within excel, however this is not essential as full training will be provided. You will be extremely organised, have excellent attention to detail and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
The successful applicant will be computer literate, proactive, able to work as part of a team, willing to travel and reliable. We are looking for someone that can communicate at all levels, build strong working relationships and be a successful part of an ever-growing team.
Due to the nature of the role, you will have resided in the UK for a minimum of 5 years. Security Clearance at Counter Terrorism Check level and Criminal Record Bureau checks are required (all offers of employment are subject to security clearance checks and approval by the Home Office).

The job holder may be required to work in other Serco sites within the radius of 100 miles of present location (company to cover travelling costs)
