Job description

Working in the ED office, the role’s broad responsibilities are to support the ED, PPD-SMT, the Private Secretary and personal assistant in their roles. This covers aspects of work from across PPD and so provides an opportunity to learn about the prudential policy framework, as well as how it interacts with other parts of the Bank’s work and with other institutions. The specific responsibilities will be agreed with the successful applicant but the role will involve:

  • Supporting the ED and the Private Secretary across the broad range of issues that arise with the ED Office;
  • Responsibility for leading on various aspects of PPD’s work from within the office and opportunities to support adhoc PPD projects;
  • Coordination of meetings and drafting briefings for the Executive Director and Governors’ offices;
  • Supporting PPD SMT in their work to develop and execute PPD’s strategy; and
  • Being aware of key policy, management and operational issues across the Directorate and communicating to the ED/SMT as appropriate.
  • Role Requirements

    Minimum Criteria

  • Some exposure to policymaking and the regulatory frameworks for banks and insurers, gained through career experience of academic study. 
  • Essential Criteria

  • An interest in prudential policymaking and the work of PPD, with a solid understanding of some of the responsibilities of the different areas of the PRA and the Bank, and how their objectives map to PPD’s.
  • An ability to build and sustain relationships: strong interpersonal skills, can build trust and work with senior management and staff across the Bank.
  • Can get to grips with a wide variety of issues, filter key information, and respond promptly.
  • Ability to remain calm under time pressure and to demonstrate good judgement and effective prioritisation.
  • Be a self-starter, confident and comfortable working on your own initiative, with effective written and oral communications skills.
  • Be collaborative and able work in a small office; flexible and willing to help others to achieve results.
  • Desirable Criteria

  • Knowledge of banking/insurance regulation or the regulatory environment.
