The role

Good data quality is key to informing effective capital and operational maintenance strategies. As the Asset Data Technician your role will be focused around the collation, analysis, and enhancement of critical water supply asset data.

Your work will directly inform how we manage our large and diverse asset base, creating bespoke programmes to enable the business to efficiently manage capital and operation expenditure.

You will be involved in the following duties, as this is a new position it is anticipated these will evolve over time:

  • Developing cyclical capital maintenance programmes
  • Establishing comprehensive asset catalogues for critical asset groups
  • Analysing operational data, mainly electrical mechanical and instrumentation (EM&I) assets to inform capital investment and maintenance
  • Liaising with operational field staff
  • Reviewing operational feedback, eg, asset condition grades
  • Identifying incomplete/poor quality data and finding solutions to improve it
  • Establishing asset deterioration models
  • Pre-planned maintenance scheduling
  • Agreeing a framework to ensure the continued collection and maintenance of good quality asset data
  • The information you gather is critical as it will directly feed into the PR24 exercise which then drives the Final Determination with OFWAT and our Internal Business Plan.

    What do I need?

    We are looking for a self-motivated individual with excellent communications skills, both verbal and written, who is able to work and prioritise tasks independently and effectively.

    In addition, we are looking for:

  • Experience and a good understanding of the water industry
  • Good knowledge of asset management and maintenance
  • Mechanical and/or electrical awareness
  • Excellent IT skills – knowledge of Excel to an advanced level is desirable
  • Degree or HNC/HND in engineering or a science-based subject is desirable
