    We are pleased to be able to advertise a vacancy with our Specialist Medicine Administration team for a Band 2 Administrator/Receptionist.

    The post is based at York Teaching Hospital and the successful applicant will join a small team within Diabetes providing administration and reception cover.

    The role will also involve providing general information and being the initial point of contact to patients and their families.

    Applicants should be educated to GCSE Level C or above in Maths and English or equivalent qualification or demonstrable experience and also be computer literate to RSA2 or NVQ2 or equivalent.

    Main duties of the job

    The role also dealing with routine enquiries, processing referrals, recording information on relevant systems and other administration tasks relating to the role.

    Due to the nature of the role which involves dealing with personal and sensitive information, the post holder must maintain confidentiality at all times.

    Other duties include:

  • Act as the initial point of contact, for, and provides general information directly to,patients, visitors, staff, and others, possibly both internal and external, via correspondence, the telephone, ‘e’ mail or face-to face.
  • Make appointments as appropriate, which may include issuing written confirmation through already prepared standard and routine letters.
  • Undertake basic Clerical tasks, such as, for example, distribution of
    incoming/outgoing post, filing, photocopying and completion of standard Forms/Returns. 
  • Records information on relevant Systems, including that relating to patients where appropriate, which may be computerised, or paper based.
  • The post holder will maintain the security of sensitive personal and other confidential information and will apply all relevant Information Governance policies reliably to working practice.

    Essential criteria

  • Please be aware, we are planning for the Covid-19 vaccination to be made mandatory for all patient-facing staff in our organisation from 1st April 2022. This means that if you haven’t already, you will need to have had a first dose of the vaccine by 3rd February 2022 in order to maintain employment in a patient-facing role, (unless you have a medical exemption).
