Overall purpose:

To assist with the operational requirements within the MRC Centre for Macaques and provide support to the CFM operational team including record keeping, procurement, and managing the quality management system.

Main duties / key responsibilities:

Team assistance:

  • Arranging travel and associated bookings
  • Co-ordinating security screening and visitors to site
  • Booking rooms
  • Arranging training courses 
  • Record management

  • Adding data to databases and excel spreadsheets
  • Verifying existing data on the database/spreadsheet
  • Managing SOP and Risk Assessment data bases
  • Managing training databases
  • Preparing for audits 
  • Meetings

  • Attending site meetings and liaising with building services
  • Take minutes and make notes 
  • Procurement

  • Placing orders and receipting goods
  • Sourcing suppliers
  • Arranging travel
  • Working relationships:

    Member of a team working under supervision of senior personnel

    Individual would be expected to communicate with external suppliers, contractors and UKSBS.

    Person Specification

    Education / Qualifications / Training required:

    Essential:

    Qualified to at least Btec, A-level standard in a biological science, have qualification involving basic data analysis

    Desirable:

    Experience in using databases

    Previous work experience required:

    Essential:

    Work with record keeping/ data analysis and have experience in co-ordinating operational roles 

    Desirable:

    Previous laboratory management experience

    Knowledge and experience:

    Essential:

    Good communication skills, attention to detail, genuine interest in the welfare of animals, computer skills including excel, familiarity with manipulating spreadsheets 

    Desirable:

    Experience of working to SOPs and computerised record keeping, Ideally experience of working as part of a team

    Personal skills/behaviours/qualities:

    Essential:

    The applicant should be able to work as part of a team and work under the supervision of senior personnel.
