Warrington Borough Council provides valuable IT Services to schools, one of which MIS Support. This aids the schools in the correct and effective use of their Management Information System.

We provide training through a variety of routes including online material, webinars, user guides and on-premise training. Very importantly there is specialist guidance and 1-to-1 advice when users in schools need extra support.

The service is growing based on the great quality delivered and our reputation with customers. With an increased customer base we are looking to take on an additional MIS analyst to join the existing team.

We would be extremely interested to hear from candidates who have worked in an MIS Support role previously and/or have an IT background.

However, the most important thing for this job is understanding how schools operate; how they manage admissions, attendance, results, personnel, their finances, etc. Therefore, applications are very much welcomed from candidates who have worked in schools.

The range of MIS systems is growing. We currently support schools using ESS SIMS (formerly Capita SIMS), Arbor, ScholarPack and IRIS Ed:gen. It is critical you have hands-on experience of using at least one of these systems. We will provide training for the successful candidate in any other systems they are not familiar with but they must be experienced in knowing how at least one of these works.

You would be part of a team of 6 people in the Schools IT Service within a full IT Department of 60+ people.

The working hours are very flexible in line with Council policies. The team does cover service hours from 08:00 to 16:30 to ensure support is available when schools need it but the team agrees informally how to cover these hours between them.

This role can be done with a blend of office and home working, making it easier to meet your personal and home commitments as well as the needs of the job.

This role will be for term-time plus one week, that extra week being to cover the preparation work for when schools resume after the summer break. This will be a 39 week contract with salary on a pro rata basis against the grade.

DBS clearance is required.

The ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post.
