We are committed to developing and enhancing our dynamic nursing team on the Elderly Care Unit’s here at the Homerton. We are seeking to recruit a Professional Development Nurse to work exclusively on the unit.

You will need to possess significant post registration leadership experience in acute medical and elderly care nursing, be hardworking, enthusiastic and proactive in your own professional development. You need to be able to demonstrate an in depth understanding and commitment to clinical practice and be able to translate this into helping develop junior colleagues. You must possess a relevant post registration teaching/assessment course.

Main duties of the job

As part of the role you will be expected to work clinically on the ward, taking charge and ensuring quality patient care is delivered. You will also be expected to help support and deputise for the senior management team on the unit.

Evidence of strong organisational and leadership skills as well as a commitment to teaching and facilitating training is essential.

Key duties:

*Provide expert clinical practice ensuring a high standard of quality nursing care, thorough skills analysis of the education and training needs of both registered and non-registered members of staff in Elderly Care Unit.

*Alongside with the ward manager and Lead for Professional Development within the Elderly Care Unit will identify areas to enhance practice and formulate strategies to implement these changes and inculcate both skills and knowledge in bringing the delivery of service to a higher standard.
