Main duties of the job

You will need to have excellent interpersonal skills and experience of working with clients to make positive behaviour change. You will also have excellent organisational skills and be able to keep accurate, confidential client records. We are looking for someone who is willing to work flexibly and help shape development of the service. Further specific training in smoking cessation will be provided if required.

This role is full-time as a secondment or fixed term post to March 2025 with potential for extension in the future. The successful applicant will cover a number of clinic sessions including on-going evening and weekend clinics across the Central BCUHB area. This role will also support the mental health units becoming smoke free from September 2022.

This post is fixed term/Secondment for 30 months to meet the needs of the service.

Qualifications/knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Recognised professional qualification in health or social care eg RGN, Diploma in Counselling, CQSW or/and A Degree in a relevant subject Or/and equivalent level of previous experience
  • Desirable criteria

  • Counselling qualification eg Certificate in Counselling, WNB Counselling Skills
  • Health Promotion qualification eg Certificate, WNB Diploma, Open University
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience of providing client/patient centred services in a health or social care setting or Experience of health education / one to one counselling on health issues
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience in delivering specialist smoking cessation support to clients in a group setting
