The Geriatric service within the Trust is comprehensive, modern and innovative with multiple specialist services. We are looking for 12 month maternity cover to work alongside our experienced team of Consultants by recruiting to this post.

Main duties of the job

Applications are invited from suitably qualified physicians for the post of Locum Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine. The post will focus on the continued development of our acute and community geriatric services and the postholder will work alongside geriatrician colleagues within the department to work rotational blocks between inpatient (12/18 months) and community/intermediate and ambulatory care (6/18 months). Other additional opportunities may include developing to the front door frailty model and the provision of geriatric advice for City and Hackney neighbourhood model.

The postholder will be expected to consolidate relationships across the Trust with all clinical colleagues and to maintain and evolve ongoing vital relationships with community primary care GPs and community staff. You can expect to be supported by senior colleagues and a dedicated multi-disciplinary team.

Qualifications & Higher qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Fully registered with GMC
  • MRCP (or equivalent)
  • On specialist register or within 6 months of Geriatric/General Medicine CCT at the time of interview
  • Certificate of Eligibility for Specialist Registration (CESR)
  • Desirable criteria

  • Other higher degree or diploma (e.g. MD, PhD)
  • Clinical Skills and Relevant Experience

  • Ability to practice independently in Geriatric and General Medicine.
  • Ability to offer expert clinical opinion on a range geriatric medicine related problems.
  • Ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.

  • Ability to take responsibility, lead, make decisions and respond appropriately to service need.

  • Awareness of the overall business environment in which the hospital operates.
