Main duties of the job


Obstetrics/Gynae Ward 30 hours per week

A Part-time Ward Clerk vacancy has arisen within Obstetrics/Gynae Ward. The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate good communication skills and work well as part of a team. They will deal with relevant correspondence and admin duties including; booking patients in and discharge out of the ward, ensure that timescales are met, ensure patient referrals are actioned, deal with patient/staff queries, action investigation results ready for clinicians attention, make follow-up appointments and recording of outcomes on WPAS.

Essential criteria

  • Able to demonstrate English and Mathematics to GCSE level or equivalent level RSA I or equivalent experience Welsh Language Skills Level 3-5
  • Significant and relevant work/social experience which has utilised skills and knowledge that could be of benefit to the post General clerical experience
  • Good verbal communication skills Good interpersonal skill good telephone manner Ability to organise and prioritise work Ability to deal with a range of professionals Ability to speak Welsh
  • Pleasant and approachable Ability to respond positively to request from the midwifery team Ability to relate positively to staff, patients and visitors Flexibility to work shifts according to service needs
  • Awareness of need for confidentiality
  • Desirable criteria

  • NVQ II Admin/customer care. Welsh Language skills up to Level 5 ECDL
  • Previous experience in a care environment e.g. hospital setting, Doctors surgery, care home
  • Knowledge of Hospital computer systems Basic computer skills
  • To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa , unless you have permission to work via another route.
