Main duties of the job

Process referrals to assess patients needs and follow protocol to signpost patients appointments. Liaise with clinical staff if unable to resolve problems/issues. This judgement is made within scope of own responsibility after sufficient detailed, expert knowledge of the department has been gained.

Liaise with medical staff, GPs, wards etc, regarding the booking of appointments.

Correct and accurate use of WPAS, including use of registration and outpatients screens.

Comply with agreed method of tracking case notes to ensure they can be found at any time.

Preparation of the daily session lists using appropriate computer system.

Cancelling procedures and re-arranging lists when instructed to do so. This includes contacting patients to inform them of cancelled appointments and re-arranging the clinical appointment lists.

To maintain case notes in the department in good condition and repair damaged notes as and when required.

Compile case notes for new patient attendees at clinic.

Collect and distribute patient case notes or urgent items manually when required to and from other areas of the hospital.

Retrieve and return hospital case notes from other departments within the hospital as and when requested by the medical staff. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
