Main duties of the job

The nature of Learning Disability Services means that applicants need to be organised, flexible, and capable of forming effective working/therapeutic relationships with both clients and colleagues. Given your skill base as a Clinical Psychologist your colleagues will be proactive in asking for your advice, supervision etc, and value greatly high quality input. You will also be expected to play a key role in maintaining Team health, by facilitating discussion/formulation of Team activity with regard to client work, and beyond. This may extend to providing some brief Psychological support to colleagues. The nature of Learning Disability work means that you will deliver on all of the varied roles provided by Clinical Psychologists this is something that is highly valued by our Learning Disability Service colleagues and management structures. We have very close links with the North Wales Clinical Psychology Programme (NWCPP) see below. 

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • Good Honours Degree in Psychology
  • HCPC Registration as a Clinical Psychologist
  • Desirable criteria

  • Advanced Training in research design and methodology
  • Experience

  • Significant Experience of qualified Clinical Psychology Practice
  • Desirable criteria

  • Knowledge of a variety of relevant therapeutic approaches for mental health work assessments
  • To work in the UK, all candidates who are not UK or Republic of Ireland (RoI) nationals require sponsorship to obtain either a Health and Care visa or Skilled Worker visa , unless you have permission to work via another route. Non UK / RoI candidates wishing to apply should self-assess the likelihood of obtaining a Certificate of Sponsorship by visiting Work in the UK .
