Senior Solicitor

The post:
As a vital part of NHS Scotland, NHS National Services Scotland’s mission is to be integral to a world leading health service, supporting Scotland’s health. The CLO, as part of NHS National Services Scotland, operates a team based structure, covering Litigation, Employment, Commercial Contracts and Commercial Property. Each team comprises of experienced solicitors and support staff committed to delivering a responsive and cost effective service to clients across NHS Scotland and the wider public sector.

Please note that this post is to join the CLO Commercial Contracts Team as a senior solicitor. Due to the way in which NHS Scotland roles are graded, a single generic job description for a litigation senior solicitor is used by CLO in connection with all its senior solicitor recruitments. Accordingly, any elements of the job description which do not relate to the CLO Commercial Contracts Team should be disregarded.

The candidate:
You will be an experienced and motivated solicitor who has at least five years post qualifying experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts and, ideally, advising on public procurement for either purchasers or suppliers. You will join a team that delivers a comprehensive commercial contracts service to the NHS in Scotland, as well as to the wider public sector. Knowledge of data protection would also be useful, but is not essential. You will have a challenging and varied workload of large and small transactions and will also provide general commercial contracts advice to clients. You will have experience managing your own workload and be accustomed to dealing with a diverse range of clients at differing levels of seniority.

The successful candidate will be required to undergo a PVG Scheme/Disclosure Scotland check. Any candidate who have lived/worked overseas for more than 12 months in the preceding 5 years will also be required to provide a criminal record check from the appropriate overseas agency.

Location:
The CLO is located at Anderson House in Leith, Edinburgh. Most staff are currently working from home and it is anticipated that a hybrid approach to working from home and in the office will become the norm. Please note, however, that you will be required to attend the office at least one day each week.

Benefits:
Our benefits package includes pension scheme, comprehensive range of work life balance policies, occupational health services, learning resource centres and discounted leisure, financial and shopping benefits.
