Main duties of the job

Will be required to take charge of clinical area in the absence of person with continuing responsibility. Supervise other staff in routine duties.

  • Undertake delegated line management responsibilities of other team members including individual performance reviews and personal development planning
  • Assist their ward/team manager to maximise best use of clinical resources, implementing best practice in patient flow, admission and discharge arrangements.
  • Participate in the recruitment and retention of staff.
  • Promote the development of services within the clinical area and assists the ward/team manager to implement change.
  • Ensure the effective and efficient use of physical and financial resources.
  • Monitor health, safety and security of self and others and promote best practice in the ward/clinical area.
  • To manage the communication of treatment progress to the multi disciplinary team, in weekly multi disciplinary review meetings and in all other meetings where the treatment of the young person is evaluated.
  • The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

    Essential criteria

  • Registered Mental Health Nurse RN3 First Level , Sub part 1, or/and Registered Nurse Learning Disability or Paediatric Nurse
  • Desirable criteria

  • Up dated mandatory training.
  • Qualification in Child and Adolescent Mental Health.
  • PREVIOUS EXPERIENCE

    Essential criteria

  • Experience working within a Multi-disciplinary team.
  • Experience working with young people.
  • Experience with individual and group work.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Experience of working within a therapeutic milieu.
  • Experience in managing a team.
  • SKILLS

    Essential criteria

  • The ability to communicate with a range of people about difficult matters and /or in difficult situations.
  • The ability to plan, deliver and evaluate care/ treatment, to meet the young peoples health and wellbeing needs.
  • The ability to plan, allocate and supervise the work of a team of nurses.
  • The ability to be able to monitor and review treatment plans.

  • Contribute to the 24 hr on-call service.

  • The ability to communicate in Welsh.
