Main duties of the job

We have an opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and highly motivated SLT for this new role. We require a clinical specialist who can support and develop SLTs and TIs, represent SLT within the MDT and drive the future development of excellent stroke services, including establishing a robust ESD service. You will work with our newly-appointed dedicated stroke MDT to develop high quality care pathways and MDT training plans, contributing to building a culture of research and development, with strong links to our local Universities.

For this key clinical role, we are looking for a passionate SLT with a clinical background in stroke rehab, who is ready to acquire and hone skills in clinical leadership including developing the skills and knowledge of others. As this is a development role, we will support you to progress within a personalised competency framework, based on your current strengths and development needs. 

You will also be part of the friendly and supportive Adult SLT team where there is a wide range of expertise and experience. There is excellent peer support. We have regular team meetings and strong links with other specialist services. Clinical supervision is actively encouraged with regular cross team CPD and training opportunities as you continue to expand your clinical skills. There is access to therapist-led and MDT clinics including VF and FEES. You will lead a range of service improvements and MDT initiatives are encouraged.

Essential criteria

  • Recognised qualification degree / equivalent in S&LT
  • HCPC registered
  • Post graduate study relevant to clinical area at Masters level or equivalent demonstrable experience at this level
  • Able to demonstrate continuing professional development e.g. up to date, relevant CPD portfolio.
  • Clinical supervisory skills training
  • Desirable criteria

  • Membership of appropriate clinical network group
  • Other professional or academic qualification which relates to clinical practice
  • Accredited Practice Placement Educator Certificate
  • Experience
