About the role

At Daisy, the Datacentre Operations Manager will be directly responsible for the management of the datacentre services team in the region, ensuring an efficient and cost effective model for operating the datacentres.

  • Manage the datacentre operations team in the region, developing capabilities, and working with the broader team to set policies necessary to satisfy customers, engage employees, and achieve financial objectives.
  • Ensure that operating standards are trained and adopted as applicable at the datacentre sites.
  • Manage staffing to ensure compliance with financial goals and pre-defined budgets, contributing to the overall datacentre operations budget objectives.
  • Ensure that the defined governance that is in place for the datacentre operations function to manage the datacentre estate is trained and applied, working with the broader team to drive industry best practice and deliver high availability services to our customers.
  • Responsible for a team of datacentre engineering teams with various skill levels and accountabilities.
  • Implement and maintain facilities policies, procedures and organisational structures necessary to maintain compliance with all laws and regulations. Support the activities required to obtain and keep current all necessary licenses, permits and certifications as required.
  • Provide an escalation point to both external and internal stakeholders in relation to datacentre operations and associated services.
  • Provide input for business reporting and forecasting for key stakeholders including Senior Management Team, Head of Datacentre Operations, and Operations Director.
  • Inform and deliver change programs for datacentre improvements including delivering industry best practice, processes and compliance standard requirements.
  • Inform and deliver change programs to ensure ongoing efficient and effective use of team resources that deliver to required standards and costs whilst continuing to deliver a great customer experience.
  • Provide strong management for the team, working in conjunction with other senior managers, product managers and other relevant internal business owners to ensure operational standards are understood, planned and achieved.
  • Manage operations, space planning, power and cooling services, equipment installations, physical security, maintenance, business continuity/disaster recovery for all sites.
  • Work with professional 3rd party experts and suppliers as necessary to achieve the business objectives.
  • Working with the Head of Datacentre Operations to ensure an effective and robust governance structure is in place for the datacentre operations function to manage the datacentre estate, drive industry best practice and deliver high availability services to our customers.
  • Understand local operating regulations or laws in relation to datacentre businesses within the UK.
  • Ensure effective management and coordination of datacentre maintenance agreements, maintenance procedures, testing procedures, inspections, reporting, and utilise best accounting practices.
  • Interface and work with Sales team on new customer planning, changes and implementation.
  • Provide appropriate business reporting and forecasting input for Head of Datacentre Operations and other key stakeholders as required.
  • Maintain in-depth knowledge of Daisys product and service offerings, current and future; ensuring appropriate team skills and development in support of this.
  • Able to think out of the box and be able to troubleshoot new situations as they arise efficiently and without supervision to conclusion; mentor others in this capability.
  • Act as a change agent across the business, delivering change and improvement programs.
  • Provide an escalation point for key customer related complaints in relation to specific aspects of the service, working closely with the other key stakeholders with respect to this, ensuing that these are followed up appropriately and closed off in a timely manner.
  • Report the KPIs and CSFs as defined to report performance on efficiency, quality and cost and report on trending and overall performance management of these key processes in our business and performance against these
  • Support the requirement for compliance to partner and external accreditations, e.g. ISO27001 and 20000.
  • People Management

    · Team and individual development, coaching and training; supporting Personal Development Plans and mentoring the datacentre team in these areas under your management

    · Work with others as required in order to develop effective training material for staff

    · Manage the team to ensure the delivery of high quality service to our customers

    · Manage staff in line with company management guidelines, including recruitment, objective setting and measurement, performance management including reviews and resource, training, skills and competency planning.

    Qualifications

    What do we need from you?

    · Expert level of knowledge with regards to datacentre environments, including power, cooling, UPS, biometrics, etc.

    · Experience of successfully influencing technical delivery teams and their management

    · Proven ability to manage complex relationships with large scale customers

    · Understanding & qualification of ITIL v3

    · Understanding of formal project management methodologies such as Prince2

    · Good written and spoken English and strong communicator

    · Good knowledge of telephony, networking, security, storage and server technologies as well as data centre fundamentals

    · Work effectively with minimum supervision

    · Excellent written and verbal communication skills

    · Knowledge of mission critical IT environments

    · Strong leadership and motivation skills with a track record of success in influencing internal and customer teams
