Main duties of the job

In conjunction with peers, co-ordinate and organise day to day activities of the operation staff within the department and to support the development of a cost effective customer responsive service.

The overall purpose of the job is to work as part of a team and to be the first point of contact for the Domestic Assistants. When working in the community this will also include Portering Assistants.

To be committed to take part in providing the best quality cleaning services to the environment within the Health Boards premises. To share leaned practices with others in developing cleaning services as changes are made over time to allow the department and individuals to react to changing needs.

To use skills to the best advantage when supervising, training and auditing cleaning processes with Domestic Assistants in a variety of areas from very high risk to low risk as classified by the

National Standards of Cleanliness that require management of different audit lead times. To monitor and sustain best cleaning practices and ensure that self and others provide this to the standard required.

To provide assistance to the Assistant Hotel Services Manager (Domestic) in the carrying out of their duties and to make responsible decisions in their absence and to support the development of a cost effective customer responsive service.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Essential criteria

  • Good general education Level 3 NVQ Cleaning Supervision skills
  • Institute of Leadership and Management Level 3 Award in Management or equivalent level or able to demonstrate equivalent level of experience
  • Desirable criteria

  • Infection Prevention Control Level 2
  • ECDL or equivalent
  • Level 3 NVQ Customer Services
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Previous supervisory experience in a NHS organisation.
  • Knowledge of BCUHB policies and procedures.
  • Experience of working to standard operating procedures.
  • Knowledge of handling confidential and sensitive information.
  • Experience of developing good relationships with stakeholders.

  • Experience of working in a mental health and/or learning disability environment.

  • Willingness to work at other units managed by Domestic Services. Ability to work other hours and not just contracted hours
