Main duties of the job

We would welcome applications from enthusiastic and conscientious nursing colleagues who have a particular interest in caring for patients within the Ventilatory speciality.

You will use your determination and compassion to care for and manage patients throughout their journey from holistic assessments, through to long term care and support for those patients who require ventilatory support.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.

Qualifications

Essential criteria

  • Registered with the NMC
  • Post registration experience either within respiratory or relevant post
  • Working towards a relevant post-graduate degree to be completed within an agreed timeframe
  • Diploma level training or demonstrable CPD in respiratory management
  • Desirable criteria

  • Obtained or working towards relevant Post Graduate Degree in Respiratory care
  • Demonstrates ability to support the development of nursing standards and quality initiatives
  • Demonstrates teaching, mentoring and assessing skills
  • Demonstrate involvement in research that has changed nursing practice
  • Module or qualification in respiratory management
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience and credibility as a professional resource in the Respiratory speciality/practice area e.g. link nurse
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate evidence based nursing advice to a Multidisciplinary Team
  • Post registration practice within the defined scope of Respiratory speciality/practice
  • Skills

    Essential criteria

  • Demonstrate skills in nursing leadership e.g. management of a ward/team/caseload
  • Ability to assess complex needs of patient relevant to Respiratory practice
  • Work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, using evidence practice in area of respiratory specialty
  • Initiates health promotion activities to encourage productive health behaviours
  • Be a professional leader and role model, with proven ability to inspire, motivate and develop others in area of respriatory/sleep practice
  • IT skills eg microsoft, word
  • Desirable criteria

  • Health board clinical databases eg PIMS, Myrddin, WPAS
  • Apply specialty assessment skills, initiate appropriate clinical interventions and evaluate outcomes in area of respiratory practice
  • Knowledge

    Essential criteria

  • Current issues for nursing and health in Wales
  • Current government policies, codes, guidelines, and legislation impacting on area of Respiratory for example asthma/COPD/TB/ILD.
  • Current nursing professional standards and codes
  • BCUHB current vision, goals and objectives
  • Employer certification / accreditation badges
