Protocol are proud to be working with an esteemed college in the Staffordshire area who are currently looking for a  Bricklaying technician. The successful applicant that is appointed to this role will be joining a team that is fully committed to supporting the College to deliver its high-quality learning programmes.

As technician in Bricklaying, you will be responsible for providing high quality support in the workshop in order to enable the College to meet the standards required in practical classes. Team working and communications within an overall approach that values people will be of key importance

The role is full time (37 hours) on a temporary contract expected to run until the recruitment process.

Role responsibilities

  • Prepare equipment and materials for practical classes, demonstrations and exam projects.
  • Assist staff and students to ensure learning environments operate effectively and to a high standard by providing support in the classroom where necessary.
  • Facilitate the efficient and effective running of the Department, as directed.
  • Take receipt of deliveries and check against orders, reporting any as appropriate.
  • Maintain, repair and rebuild tools and equipment, as directed.
  • Check stock levels of consumables on an agreed timetable and report needs as appropriate.
  • Ensure good housekeeping of workshops, service rooms and stores areas studios classrooms etc.
  • Participate where required in practical demonstrations.
  • The person & qualifications

  • Literacy and Numeracy to a level two as a minimum
  • A technical qualification to level 2 related to Bricklaying 
  • Experience of working in the relevant industry
  • Qualified First Aider or willing to undertake the training
  • Fire Marshall trained or willing to undertake the training
  • Trained in Manual Handling or willing to undertake
  • An awareness and understanding of Health and Safety in the workplace
  • Relevant level 2 qualification in Science 
  • FLT license
