What does this job involve?
The key responsibilities of the role holder include:
Drive and embed the Data Quality Framework, leading the development of processes and capabilities to strategically track, monitor and remediate the quality of the data used by the organisation.
Play a critical role in educating and driving stakeholders to collect and define measurable DQ rules. Building an understanding of how data is being used in the organisation, driving the implementation of Data Quality tools, and processes
Problem solving, understanding complex data landscapes and ensuring this is documented in our enterprise tools
Establishing strong relationships across all levels of the organisation to ensure the success of the Data Quality Framework, and effective Data Governance within the organisation and delivery quantifiable benefits.
Develop measurements and metrics to monitor data quality and set targets for achievable data quality standards, producing and sharing reports and ensuring they are acted upon.
Identify the root cause of Data Quality issues through targeted data analysis and drive Data Remediation activities, making recommendations to address quality issues and ensure they are resolved efficiently
Support the delivery of Data Management principles and services to govern data across the FCA, providing support and guidance to business areas where required, championing embedding effective Data Governance within the organisation.
Support the set up and oversight of more junior members of the Data Quality team.

Minimum
Responsible for the project management and delivery of Data Quality implementations in a complex organisation. This includes (but is not limited to) DQ rules, issue logging, monitoring, remediation using a variety of Data Quality practices and approaches.
Experience, and understanding of, rolling-out Data Quality tooling and techniques in large organisations, of similar size to the FCA (such as Data Quality profiling, monitoring, and reporting tools)
Expert understanding of a variety of Data Quality approaches and pitfalls in large organisations and how they can be resolved.
Experience of Data Management best practice frameworks (such as EDM Council and DAMA)

Essential
Strong stakeholder management skills: the individual will need to be able to work with a range of stakeholders at all levels, influencing and delivering credible findings to achieve positive outcomes.
Expertise and experience of Data Quality concepts such as business rules, Dashboarding, Data Quality dimensions, Data Quality metrics, Data Profiling, and Data Remediation
Evidence of embedding a Data Quality framework within a complex organisation similar to the FCA
An analytical approach to their work, able to spot trends and arrive at logical conclusions using strong judgment to reach sound conclusions
Demonstrated ability to think strategically, contributing to both team-level as well as departmental-wide priorities
Ability to produce concise and persuasive written outputs, requiring minimum editing to, and verbally convey any issues in a manner that is easy to understand to all levels of stakeholder. Able to converse in both technical (IT/data systems) and business language.
Experience of troubleshooting data issues and providing root cause solutions
Experience within the financial services industry in Data Management and/or relevant regulations (such as BCBS )

Desirable
Coding experience will be beneficial to the role (for example Python, R, SQL, or similar knowledge will be useful)
Understanding and experience of Data Management concepts such as metadata management, reference and master data, data quality, with experience in delivering Data Governance implementations and work products (such as data dictionaries, business glossary, lineage, etc.)
An appreciation of how data can be utilised as an asset to the organisation to drive the corporate data strategy
An understanding of the FCA data strategy and its impact on developing governance and data related policy
Understanding of data protection, security and privacy
