The Primary and Community Care Academy in North Wales in partnership with Hwb Iechyd Eifionydd is developing a Multi Disciplinary Practitioner Training Hub in rural north Wales. We have two sites situated in the coastal towns of Porthmadog and Criccieth, both towns have some the most amazing beaches, hills, sunsets and sunrises Wales has to offer. However, it isn’t just the scenery that is great about working in Porthmadog and Criccieth, it is the team at the Health Centre and our shared vision for sustainable primary care services in north wales and the importance of education and training in delivering that vision.

Hwb Iechyd Eifionydd is already actively training multi-disciplinary team practitioners and is now extending its training team in partnership with the Primary and Community Care Academy to offer a range of training and learning and mentoring opportunities for the current and next generation of primary and community care practitioners.

Main duties of the job

The Training Team will also include non-medical professionals including a Pharmacist and Nurse. The Team will work collaboratively to deliver the range of training, education and skills enhancement opportunities at the Health Centre, regionally as members of the Academy faculty and will actively promote and undertake clinical research at the practice.

The job plan will include protected / dedicated sessions for the clinical and educational supervision of a small cohort of trainees, this will/may include Medical Students, Physician Associates, Trainee Advanced Clinical Practitioners and GP Trainees, don’t worry if you are not a GP Trainer, we will support you to become one.

This is a portfolio role and we would also be looking for the successful applicant to undertake clinical sessions in the Health Centre. We welcome your application for full or part time hours but are looking for a minimum commitment of 2 days per week as a clinical supervisor as you will be looking after our medical students in the first instance.

Job responsibilities

  • Provide general medical services within a GP Practice in the north Wales region
  • Provide clinical supervision and mentorship to a range of students and trainees in the GP setting. Clinical supervision may take the form of direct or indirect supervision of the muti-professional workforce including: Pharmacists, Nurses, GP Trainees, Physician Associates, Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, Medical Students, Physician Associate Trainees, Pharmacy Students
  • Fulfil the duties of DPP / DSMP for trainees undertaking modules from the Advanced Clinical Practice Masters programme and / or alternative Level 7 modules
  • Work towards accreditation of the practice as a GP Training Practice if not already involved in GP Training and become a GP Trainer if not already
  • Actively promote and participate in clinical research in the GP setting
  • Deliver education and training sessions on a range of topics to a range of trainees and students both locally and regionally on a regular basis
  • Actively participate in the development of the Primary and Community Care Academy and promote the role of Educator, Trainer, Supervisor and Mentor

    Essential

  • Full GMC Registration with a licence to practise and entry on the GP Register
  • Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT) in General Practice / Certificate Confirming Eligibility for General Practice Registration (CEGPR), or equivalent
  • Included on a Medical Performers List or eligible.
  • Evidence of continuous professional development
