Rotational Occupational Therapist – 37.5 hours per week.

B5 Rotational post within a community NHS Trust, rated ”Good” by CQC.

As you move through our rotations you will develop skills within stroke rehabilitation both community and ward based, admission avoidance, supported discharge and older person’s rehabilitation both community and ward based.

If you are enthusiastic and motivated to learn then come and join our Band 5 rotation across Horsham, Crawley and Mid Sussex.

Main duties of the job

A driving license, and a car available to use for work are essential as you will be required to travel across sites and within the community setting.

In this role you will be involved in:

  • The assessment and treatment of individual’s with a variety of medical, social and cognitive difficulties.
  • Management and prioritisation of your own caseload
  • The delivery of high quality and evidenced based care.
  • Taking part in CPD activities and our in house teaching programme.
  • Being a team player and contributing to team decisions.
  • During each of the 9 month rotations, you will be supported by a Band 7 and Band 6 and have access to peer support within our well established band 5 peer support group. This will include completion of the preceptorship programme where appropriate.

    Our rotation is ever growing with rotational area’s being added. The current rotation comprises of:

    – Stroke Rehabilitation Ward

    – Older Person’s Rehabilitation Ward

    – Responsive Community Neuro services

    – Responsive services (community based covering supported discharge, admission avoidance and older person’s rehabilitation)

    The rotation’s are set over 3 geographical areas of Crawley, Horsham and Mid Sussex. These all have good links to public transport and are only a 15 minutes’ walk from the town centres.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities
    To work as and Occupational Therapist within a team or as part of a rotation in Sussex Community NHS Foundation Trust.

    To manage a caseload of patients with a variety of conditions including orthopaedic, neurological, falls, dementia and frailty in a rehabilitation setting.

    To formulate and deliver an individual treatment programme based on a sound knowledge of evidence-based practice and treatment options using clinical assessment and reasoning skills.

    To be involved in the support of Band 2, 3 and 4 staff as well as student education.

    To take part in in-service training and have ownership of your own personal development.
